FHCC Junior golfer Carter Chronister has had quite a summer participating in the Drive, Chip, and Putt Championships. He started off by winning the local qualifier at Twin Oaks CC in Springfield with a total of 77 points. This qualified him for the sub-regional event on August 6th at Tiffany Greens Golf Club in Kansas City. Carter put together another impressive performance, placing 2nd with a total of 101 points. By placing 2nd, Carter has now qualified for the Regional Championships on September 12th at the historic Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. The winner of the Regional event on 9/12 will advance to the DCP Championships, held at Augusta National on April 3rd, 2016 prior to The Masters.
During the competition, each golfer makes three shots at each driving, chipping, and putting station. The drives are scored by distance and must stay in a 40-yard wide fairway. The chips are 10 to 15 yards and are scored by distance from the hole. Finally putts are attempted from 6′, 15′, and 30′. The points from each station are totaled to determine the winner.
This is a obviously a great accomplishment for Carter. If you see him on the range practicing, wish him good luck!
